Gotton Manor (Nursing) Care Home Rating: 2 Star - Good Date of last inspection: Jun 1st, 2008An excellent nursing home all round. I would be happy to be a resident. At Gotton Manor Care Home people are encouraged to spend their days as they wish. One resident said 'I am very happy here' and was able to describe how she spent her day reading the daily paper and knitting. Overall the home is very clean and tidy. Many people have wonderful countryside views and some rooms have patio doors which enable people to benefit from fresh air when they want to. There are beautiful grounds that are accessible to residents and their visitors.

I have been here for 1 year and feel that the staff are very good and I have no problems with anyone. I enjoy my breakfast as I have 2 bowls of porridge and 2 slices of toast and even though I don’t really eat much during the day the food is very good. I am very happy here and am enjoying myself. I really look forward to the trips out and enjoy them.

Gotton Manor Care Home provides both nursing and residential care to residents over the age of 65 years. Each shift is run by experienced registered nurses who are supported in their duties by well trained care assistants. The home is staffed 24 hours per day to ensure every resident’s needs are met. Set in 10 acres of mature landscaped gardens, deep in the countryside, approximately 2.5 miles from Taunton town centre the main house at Gotton Manor is the old Manor House and retains many of its original features such as open fireplaces in the lounge and high ceilings in the entrance hall along with a beautiful chandelier. The character of the Manor has been retained and has recently been tastefully decorated, providing a warm and comfortable environment for the residents. We have 32 single bedrooms with 26 having en suite facilities. All rooms have a nurse call system so help and support is readily available. We encourage our residents to bring their own pieces of furniture and accessories should they wish, in order to personalise and retain a sense of home. We have a spacious and bright dining room which has French windows leading out to a patio area providing beautiful views of the surrounding hills and countryside.
Lifestyle and Activities
We have a dedicated Patient Activity Leader (PAL) who works Monday - Friday and organises and implements various activities and trips away from the home. One of our most recent trips was to the local Hollywood Bowl and we have had visits with birds of prey on display as well as from our adopted donkey from The Donkey Sanctuary in Devon. We have close links with the local parish church and hold annual Easter services as well as a Harvest Festival where the local community is encouraged to join us in the celebrations. The Home prints a monthly newsletter to keep our residents, families and friends informed of events and latest home news.
