Senior Nurse

Since I started at Haddon House a year ago, I have really felt part of the team, there is a lovely atmosphere, the residents and their families are involved in their care, and the residents are cared for as individuals. If my mum or dad had dementia, I would not hesitate to bring them here. Haddon House is the place to go if you are looking to work, or to reside

The home has achieved the Quality Premium rating with the Local Authority. Situated in the heart of Ilkeston, Haddon House is a purpose built, comfortable home. We are on main bus routes between Nottingham and Derby, and within 5 minutes walking distance of the shops, banks and post office. Also within walking distance is Victoria Park, a lovely relaxing area in which to take a stroll. As well as a bright, spacious main lounge which has a large flat screen television and opens out onto a patio, there is a smaller lounge where residents can sit quietly or listen to the radio. We also have a fully equipped sensory room where residents can relax with staff or their families, interacting with, or simply observing the lights, sounds and textures. Residents are encouraged to personalise their rooms and bring in favourite items. All rooms have under floor heating, smoke detectors, aerial sockets for televisions, and 24 hour call systems. We have recently had the shower rooms and bathroom refurbished, with the addition of a brand new fully assisted bath.

Lifestyle and Activities

We have a dedicated Personal Activities Leader who provides stimulating and enjoyable activities that the residents can look forward to. These may be group activities, or individual hobbies and interests. The varied and interesting programme includes handicrafts, quizzes, trips out to local places, gardening, baking, reading groups, reminiscence, etc. We also have a regular film show and monthly fish and chip night from the local take away. We also invite a variety of entertainers in, ranging from singers, musicians, comedians, and pantomime acts and also put on seasonal events such as a Valentine’s Day lunch, Mothers Day and St Patrick’s Day celebrations. For residents who are no longer able to attend church services, we work closely with the local vicar and priest who attend the home regularly.
