First Class Care at St Margaret’s Care Home in the heart of Edinburgh

St Margaret’s Care Home is a beautiful Victorian property which has been converted, extended and refurbished to create a truly stunning, unique home to live in. The Home was previously St Margaret’s Independent Girls School from 1890 to 1990 and is situated in the prestigious area of Newington, close to the University of Edinburgh and a short distance from Arthurs Seat, the city centre and Royal Mile.

We provide first class residential and nursing care for people with dementia in a homely environment. We pride ourselves in delivering ‘a person centered holistic care plan approach’: every resident is a unique individual and we always ensure that we tailor not only our care plans but also social activities to ensure our residents lives continue to be rich and fulfilled within a care setting.

St Margaret's Care Home was officially opened by MSP Alex Neil on 6th June at our first open day. Please do feel free to come in and visit us any time and see what we have to offer. For more information please call the home on 0131 662 9157.

Lifestyle and Activities

We have a varied choice of activities including use of our landscape gardens, mini bus for outings, entertainment internally and externally. We also look at life stories and potted life histories and organise visits to the theatre, beach and the Safari park in Stirling. The home has regular interaction with the local community, schools and nurseries.

Information on Fees and Funding

Moving into care can be daunting, no more so than trying to understand the complex process of paying for it. Because of this, we have provided some information that should help you in accessing funding you may be entitled to. Please see our Guide to Getting Funding for more information. In addition to this, there are a number of other organisations who can help you. Please see our list of Helpful Organisations.
