The Headington Care HomeOxford, Oxfordshire
We work with our residents to ensure the highest possible quality of life and enjoy the day to day events within the home. We work with each resident individually taking the importance of their life history, their memories and achievements. The nursing and care staff assist and oversee the residents health and well- being. We value our residents individualities and choices. We work with our relatives and friends of the home as these are an extremely valuable resource for us to learn more about our individual residents. We enjoy working in partnership with our relatives & colleagues from the community. We are proud of The Headington Care Home! It is homely, warm, calm and spacious for our residents. Our home has a central courtyard within the unit. All of our rooms are spacious and have room for our residents and family to bring personal things to personalise their room. Twenty of our rooms are particularly large and have a patio door that leads to the courtyard. As the home is purpose built, it caters to our residents freedom of movement and it has a feel of openness where residents are free to go to other lounges and interact with other residents, staff and relatives.
Lifestyle and Activities
We have two Personal Activity Leaders who work with our residents social interests and activities. Our activities range from group activities to 1:1 care. Residents enjoy the newspaper group in the morning, reminiscence activities, arts and crafts and sensory stimulation sessions. The PALS and care staff arrange gardening with our residents and relatives often help and join in as well. Staff encourage our residents to help or join them with the daily household chores in the unit such as washing up, tidying their rooms, sweeping the courtyard and gardening. We also have music therapy in the home which is very popular with the residents and relatives as music touches our emotions and rekindles memories, especially for people with Dementia.
