Pearl Specialised Dementia Service (Bewick Lodge Care Home)

The Pearl Specialised Dementia Service is provided in Bewick Lodge, a purpose built care home. Every detail has been researched to ensure we achieve an environment which will enable the resident to maintain the highest possible level of independence and freedom of choice.

We have ensured that the residents will benefit from the design, layout and excellent facilities provided. All of our rooms are for single occupancy and the majority are en-suite.

Bewick Lodge is situated in the Lemington suburb of Newcastle, within easy reach of shops and other amenities, public transport and the A1(M). Specifically, the Metro Centre is only two miles away.

This home is rated by the Commission for Social Care Inspection as providing 'good' outcomes for its residents.

From the South
Take the A1 past the Metro Centre and exit at the A69 Hexham junction. Turn left onto the B6528 (signposted Lemington and Throckley) towards Lemington Village. Continue down the hill, past the cemetery and over 2 mini roundabouts, then turn left into Addison Road. At the end of the road turn right and Bewick Lodge is approximately half way along on the left.

From the North
Take the A1 and exit at the A69 Hexham junction. Turn right onto the B6528 and then follow directions as above.

Dementia care is provided at our home within the Pearl Specialised Dementia Service. This means that the environment has been developed and adapted to the needs of residents with dementia and we can offer as much independence and stimulation as possible within safe boundaries.

The expertise of our caring team is to recognise and enable each resident to continue to do the things they enjoy for as long as they can continue to do so. Our programme is based on the theories of ‘person centred care' and all of our care plans are tailored around the residents' needs and capabilities. These are adjusted to provide additional support over time.

Bewick Lodge has TV lounges and quiet sitting rooms (with both smoking and non-smoking areas). Separate dining rooms, where residents can join the company of others at meal times, are also an important feature of the home.

Our Chef prepares a wide range of home cooked food based upon traditional cooking using fresh produce. Special diets are catered for and daily choices are available.

The home is attended by an experienced hair stylist, a qualified chiropodist and a range of complementary therapies can be arranged to suit individual requirements.

A varied programme of activities also takes place in the home for the benefit of residents.
