Welcome to Dounemount Care Home

You'll find Dounemount Care Home in the old fishing community of Macduff, Aberdeenshire.

Here our trained team of care assistants and ancillary staff combines to provide a comfortable, safe and enjoyable environment for each person living here.

Care is planned and served according to need, and at different levels - permanent, respite, nursing and residential.

Our old property is full of interesting features and has been tastefully modernised and adapted to purpose. Our extensive gardens have been upgraded to provide more areas for residents to enjoy the fresh air. Inside, many rooms have lovely views towards the River Deveron.

Our newer annexe is purpose-built and offers comfortable en-suite rooms, mostly also with pleasing views.

The staff at Dounemount were always friendly and helpful. I know that she enjoyed her stay whilst she was able to be up. I was impressed with the standard of nursing care once she became unable to get up.

Scot-Wales-IOM-Twiddle-Mitt-competition

11 Feb 2017

Towards the end of last year, the 42 homes in Scotland, Wales and the Isle of Man regions took part in a competition to create their own twiddle mitts.

John Kirk, Managing Director for the Region, said: “Twiddle Mitts provide much needed relief for people living with dementia, as they are able to play with the various beads and other textures on there.

“With that in mind, I set the homes on my patch a challenge. I wanted to see who could design the best twiddle mitt.

“The response I got was fantastic. The mitts weren't only made by members of the care teams, but by the residents and their families. I want to thank everyone who took the time to make a mitt. These will now be winging their way back to the homes for the residents to enjoy.”

The top three twiddle mitts were chosen from the following homes:

Nobody likes staying in hospital. In fact many of us count down the days until we get discharged. But what happens when we still need a bit of care to help us in our rehabilitation before we’re allowed to return home?

This is where Four Seasons Health Care’s Intermediate Care Service can help.

Intermediate care is also known as ‘step-up, step-down’ or rehabilitation care. It can be an alternative to a prolonged or unnecessary hospital stay. It can help you avoid going into hospital in the first place, or provide somewhere to get better when you’re not quite ready to go home. Once you are completely rehabilitated, you are able to return to your own home.

Where would you rather stay to aid your rehabilitation? In hospital? In a care home environment?

With this in mind a number of our homes - with the support of their Local Authority, Primary Care Trusts and the Care Quality Commission - have set up Intermediate Care Beds to aid the transition from hospital, rehabilitation to home.

Over the coming weeks we will be showcasing some of our homes who provide this service.

Our case studies will focus on:

Paul Hayes, Commissioning and Commercial Operations Director for Four Seasons Health Care, said: “Intermediate care is only a short-term solution. The average length of stay for the purpose of rehabilitation is 6 weeks. It doesn’t mean that people can’t leave before then, but we like to make sure that they’re 100% fighting fit before they leave us.”

More information about our intermediate care service and other types of care and support we offer is available on our website.
