Elderly Care

End of Life and Palliative Care

Four Seasons support the NHS End of Life Care philosophy and we have implemented an End of Life programme into our homes.

End of life care requires an active, compassionate approach that treats, comforts and supports individuals to enable them to live as well as possible until they die. It includes physical care, management of pain and other symptons; the provision of psychological, social, spiritual and practical support is also important and it encompasses support for families and friends up to and including the period after death.

Palliative care is the active care of residents whose condition no longer responds to treatment. Palliative care aims to control pain and other symptoms, easing suffering and enhancing the life that remains.

Palliative care integrates the psychological, social and spiritual aspects of care to enable patients to live out their lives with dignity and respect, as well as offering support to families.

Palliative care aims to promote both physical and psychological well being. It is a vital and integral part of all clinical practice, whatever the illness or its stage.

We have the experience within many of our homes to provide the nursing, social and personal care that is appropriate. Staff working within these facilities will have had specialist training in pain management, symptom relief and bereavement.

Further details about palliative care are available in the attached leaflet, click here to download, or please contact one of our homes using the search facility to the right.
