Welcome to Gotton Manor Care Home
You'll find Gotton Manor Care Home about 2.5 miles outside Taunton, Somerset.
Here our experienced Registered Nurses, Senior Care Assistants and well trained Care Assistants provide quality nursing and residential care to people over the age of 65, around the clock. Our dedicated team, actively encourage residents to take part in all decisions, contributing to everything from the way their rooms look to the therapies they receive. We also offer short-stay respite care that can be booked up to a year in advance, which can be helpful when planning holidays and short breaks.
Our property is set in 10 acres of mature landscaped gardens, deep in the countryside. The Main building, which is the nursing unit, is an old manor house, tastefully decorated, and retaining many original features. There are open fireplaces in the dining room, and high ceilings and a beautiful chandelier in the entrance hall. The Coach House, which is our residential unit, also has a wonderful ambience and has some of the original beams from the stables in areas of the unit.
Our bright, spacious dining rooms are where people living here enjoy fine views of the surrounding hills and countryside.
All bedrooms have great personal-safety systems; many of the singles have en-suites. We love residents to bring their own pieces of furniture and accessories to personalise these spaces, and make them more familiar and homely.
Life at Gotton Manor Care Home
Our activities coordinator organises a variety of pastimes and trips - to the local steam railway, for instance. We have also visited local garden centres, and the beautiful Hestercombe Gardens are on our doorstep.
We have had visits from Birds of Prey as well as our adopted donkey from the Donkey Sanctuary in Devon. We have close links with the local parish church and hold annual Easter services as well as a Harvest Festival, for which the local community is encouraged to join us. We print a monthly newsletter to keep residents, families and friends informed of events and the latest home news.
Situated in beautiful Somerset countryside, most rooms have wonderful views. Recently refurbished, lovely south facing conservatory and grounds within old manor house. Spacious en-suite bedrooms, no smells! Most residents seem to prefer to stay in their rooms. Activities arranged for 4 afternoons/week so seems a bit too quiet at other times. Lovely friendly staff. Some residents eat lunch in the dining room, but other meals mostly taken in bedrooms. Residential wing and nursing wing so useful if nursing care required at a later date.
I came to Gotton for respite care whilst waiting for my bungalow being adapted and enjoyed it here so much. I gave up my bungalow and stayed at Gotton

Four Seasons Health Care were well represented at the finals of the British Journal of Nursing Awards earlier this month with four colleagues flying the flag for the organisation.
Gary Cousins was a runner up in the Infection Control and Prevention Nurse category, Colin Sheeran was a runner up in the Mental Health Nurse of the Year category and Joanne Strain was a runner up in the British Nurse of the Year category.
However, further plaudits need to be given to Alana Irvine who was crowned the Nutritional Nurse of the Year, after being nominated by colleagues for her continued commitment to residents’ nutrition.
Alana has been part of the driving force behind Four Seasons nutrition innovations to meet the varying needs of the people in our care. We are able to monitor residents’ nutritional needs, with technology that flags up weight loss, whether a resident has difficulty swallowing or needs assistance when eating or drinking to the care team.
Nutrition is something we take very seriously here at Four Seasons and Alana’s win recognises all of the hard work done across the board in this area.

Saturday 23rd July saw Gotton Manor Care Home in Taunton transformed into a fairground, as people came from far and wide for the summer fete.
Patricia Coiley, Home Manager, said: “Everyone had a fantastic time at our fun fair. We were entertained by the West Newton Jazz Band and there were lots of things for people to get involved in. There were games, cream teas, raffle, tombola, cake stall, Bric-A-Brac stall and jewelry stall. We even had some stocks, where members of our care team went to get a wet sponge in the face. But it was all in aid of our residents so we were all happy to take turns.
“The event was a huge success, and we managed to raise £854 for our Resident Activity Fund which will be used to cover the cost of activities including musical entertainment, art therapy lessons and other special experiences.
“I want to thank everyone who came for making the day a success.”
