Welcome to Hillside Lodge Care Home
You'll find Hillside Lodge in Tweedmouth, Berwick-upon-Tweed, Northumberland.
Here care is based around each person's individual needs. Some residents have only modest care requirements and may simply enjoy living within a secure and caring environment; others need 24-hour nursing assistance.
Whatever the need, care is delivered with patience, kindness and understanding. Each resident's care plan is exclusive to them and aimed at promoting health and independence.
Ours is a purpose-built home within easy reach of shops, public transport, the A1 motorway, and other amenities. Many beauty spots are nearby and the town centre is just half a mile away.
Care is provided in a selection of rooms. All our bedrooms are singles with en-suites.
Life at Hillside Lodge Care Home
To meet the individual needs of each person staying with us, we organise one-to-one and group pastimes, diversions and entertainment - inside and outside the home.
Musicians regularly perform at Hillside Lodge, and we have a bagpipes player on Burns Night. Local children also visit us with their choir.
I find the staff very friendly and helpful. Nothing is too much trouble, my father is well cared for and it is nice to know he is in a safe environment.
My papa was a client at Hillside Lodge for 12 years. I visited everyday even though I worked there. The staff were brilliant with my papa and he was always cared for and always enjoyed his food. The day he passed away was a day I will never forget as the staff were brilliant with me my mum and sister.
The home is mostly good. Carers are very good, some fair, they need more help. Food good at times, could be better. On the whole not too bad.
The staff are helpful and friendly. They help all the time and someone is always around to help. The staff always have a smile and the activity person keeps us busy. The food is very good. The management are also helpful and advise my god child how I am doing.
From my first visit to Hillside Lodge I have been impressed by the relaxed welcoming atmosphere (and the absence of unpleasant odours sometimes observed in care homes!) Without exception I have found the staff cheerful, friendly, polite and extremely competent. Residents are treated with kindness and dignity, without the patronising "talking down to a child" attitude sometimes adopted while addressing the elderly. Relatives are encouraged to share any concerns with the staff who are always approachable and willing to listen. I feel Hillside Lodge offers a very high standard.
Very happy with the home and I get excellent service from the staff.
Staff are very caring.
It's the best thing for me because I could not look after myself after my fall.
I enjoy having company and the staff are good.
I enjoy being here because I am very well looked after.

Four Seasons Health Care were well represented at the finals of the British Journal of Nursing Awards earlier this month with four colleagues flying the flag for the organisation.
Gary Cousins was a runner up in the Infection Control and Prevention Nurse category, Colin Sheeran was a runner up in the Mental Health Nurse of the Year category and Joanne Strain was a runner up in the British Nurse of the Year category.
However, further plaudits need to be given to Alana Irvine who was crowned the Nutritional Nurse of the Year, after being nominated by colleagues for her continued commitment to residents’ nutrition.
Alana has been part of the driving force behind Four Seasons nutrition innovations to meet the varying needs of the people in our care. We are able to monitor residents’ nutritional needs, with technology that flags up weight loss, whether a resident has difficulty swallowing or needs assistance when eating or drinking to the care team.
Nutrition is something we take very seriously here at Four Seasons and Alana’s win recognises all of the hard work done across the board in this area.

The residents at Hillside Lodge Care Home in Berwick-upon-Tweed enjoyed their Burns Supper thanks to two very special people.
Vanessa Pepper, Home Manager, explained: “Iris Steel, a local lady did the honour of playing the bagpipes to bring the haggis into the dining room. Then our retired maintenance man John Brown addressed the haggis before we tucked into it. Everyone really enjoyed themselves, especially after the wee dram of whiskey was served.”

Residents and their families enjoyed a turkey dinner with all the trimmings at Hillside Lodge Care Home in Berwick-upon-Tweed.
Vanessa Pepper, Home Manager, explained: “It’s not Christmas without a turkey dinner. We thought it would be nice for everyone to enjoy a festive dinner before the big day, as you can never have too much turkey. The residents really enjoyed themselves, and Ian our chef dressed up in his best suit and served the meals. Some of the residents were upset that we couldn’t have a Christmas dinner every day!”
