‘Nursing firm back to health’ – Four Seasons featured in Sunday Express Business Profile

Dr Pete Calveley took the opportunity to give a full appraisal of the Group's recent restructuring experience when he was interviewed recently by Tracey Boles for the Sunday Express.

The ‘Business Profile' feature, which ran on Sunday 10 January, details the lengthy financial process which, in December 09, culminated in a successful conclusion for Four Seasons.  Dr Pete said that the process has lead to a firmer footing for the Group and that "this refinancing allows us to get on and run the company".

The Express focused on the excellent results being achieved by Four Seasons in areas such as person centred care and dementia care, not least through the pioneering Pearl service.  This positive approach has seen Four Seasons awarded dramatically improved service rankings over the past couple of years with less than 1% of Four Seasons homes ranked as poor by the Care Quality commission and an industry-leading 84% ranked as good.

Dr Pete said that there were still plenty of challenges ahead for the care sector and outlined his belief in a more ‘holistic' system of care, involving improved home care and speedier hospital assessments, "It is about placing the right person in the right place at the right time".  Asked about plans for the future, Dr Pete said that in five years' time the business would be larger and highly specialised, offering a "NHS-type service in a community setting".  The Group's commitment to quality continues to be top of the agenda.
