Taking the time to reminisce on our younger years is a lovely activity for people of all ages. However, as we get older the memories can become even fonder.

Residents at Botham Hall Care Home in Huddersfield have been doing just that as well as taking part in activities they enjoy to keep their minds active and hearts young.

Christina Halonka, Home Manager, said: “It’s really nice seeing the residents doing things they enjoy. They’re all individuals so to see them engaging in something that lights a fire in their eyes is as a care professional a wonderful sight.”

Each individual in a care home differs from the next. For example, resident Roger who used to work as an engineer enjoys reading books about cars whilst reminiscing about his own motors. Whereas two other residents at the home really enjoy getting crafty and taking part in art club.

“Variety is the spice of life,” explains Christina. “We’d all be boring if we were the same.”
