Four Seasons Quality Ratings

Our latest overall figures from the Care Quality Commission for our English care homes are as below, broken down by the different star ratings. This shows that in most of our homes you can expect care that fully meets, or exceeds, the standards laid out by the government and our regulator.

We are very proud of the progress we have made in improving our quality ratings since they were introduced. Over the last few years we have reduced our "Poor" rated homes to zero, and shown consistent improvement in the number of homes with the best ratings - Good and Excellent. This makes Four Seasons one of the highest rated corporate providers of care in England.

This evidences that Quality is at the forefront of the care we provide. What this means is that residents and relatives can expect the highest levels of care; but when any issues become apparent we will strive to resolve them.

This chart shows the improvement since September 2008:

How the star system works

Care homes overall star rating is based on outcomes in seven areas: quality of life; choice and control; making a positive contribution; personal dignity and respect; freedom from discrimination and harassment; health and emotional well-being; economic well-being and leadership and management.

All homes have to have at least one key inspection before they qualify for a star rating.

3 Stars = Excellent 2 Stars = Good
1 Star = Adequate
0 Stars = Poor

The future of star ratings

In May, CQC announced that they will be stopping the star rating system from 1st October 2010. They are currently working with the care industry and other stakeholders to develop a replacement system, but in the mean time Four Seasons are still fully committed to improving quality across all our homes.
