All Staff - Hallcroft Care Home, Hucknall (09/05/2008) |
My mother Doris King was a resident at Hallcroft for 3 years until she died on 6th May 2008. During her time at Hallcroft she was cared for and loved by the staff as if she were their own mother. She enjoyed her life at the home and referred to Hallcroft as her "home". I cannot express enough my thanks and gratitude during the last months of her life for the kindess, love and care she received from all the staff and carers. I felt they went far beyond the bounds of "only doing my job" attitude, they loved and cared for my mother to the very end.
Joy Murphy is the Manager and she is a credit to your company, you are very fortunate to have her. She is kind, caring and knows how to get the best out of her staff. Tembi is also any incredibly caring and loving nurse to all the residents. My mum loved Tembi as one of her family. - Janet Chance |

All Staff - Millbrow Care Home, Widnes (01/05/2008) |
I can't say that I want to nominate one person, as all the staff at Millbrow did a fantastic job in looking after my nan. She recently passed away and wasn't in the home for a great deal of time but she loved it there. The staff really helped to make my nan feel special while she was terminally ill. The staff at Millbrow also did a great job of welcoming me and my family every time we went there. I had a poor opinion on care homes and was worried when we were told that nan had to go into one, but now I understand that not all care homes are the same and that there are some people out there who deserve recognition for the work they do - Millbrow staff are among these people and I would like to say a big thank you to all of them for taking such good care of my nan Mrs Walsh. - Kate Walsh |

All Staff - Ashcroft Care Home, Chesterfield (23/05/2007) |
My husband Brian spent the last month of his life at Ashcroft; he had been in hospital for the previous 18 months. Brian was very well looked after. The nursing care (Leah, Agnes and Joy) was excellent; they and their support staff became our friends. I visited Brian most days and never saw any of the residents treated with anything less than patience, kindness and understanding, even though the staff were usually so busy. During the last week of Brians life, the care and support we recieved were of the highest standard. The staff so obviously cared about Brian - he was not just a patient. We are pleased that after a long painful illness, Brian ended his days in the comfort and care of Ashcroft. Lynda deserves many congratulations on her management of the home. - Pamela Hesketh |

All Staff - Charlton Park Care Home, London (23/05/2007) |
It is quite difficult to put into words the way you feel when your mother needs more help than you can provide. My mum has been at Charlton Park for over 2 years and quite frankly, it's a miracle she is alive at all but for the love and care she receives from the staff. Sister Rose and her team do a fantastic job. They look after mum's every needs and they look after me too (I live in France and I dont visit as much as I wish I could). It was my 50th birthday this weekend and nurse Julia remembered and rang me so that mum could say happy birthday!. It made my day!!! Thank you never seems enough to say. - Susan Graney |
|
Shirley Chatwin - Adeline Care Home, Thorne (17/05/2007) |

Jan is a senior carer and is a credit to the home, her care and concern for both clients and relatives alike is amazing, her personality, compassion and concern shines through. Nothing is too much trouble and her experience in care outshines many of the senior staff. I have known the above since my mother became a resident 4 years ago and have at all times been impressed with Jan's work. Good carers are extremely hard to come by, it eases my mind with regard to my mothers care and well being to know that she also is made to feel like an individual and not just a number. - Miss P J Close |
|

Jane may god bless you on the good work you are doing. - Susan Simms |

Yvonne Savage - Westroyd House Care Home, Shepshed (07/05/2007) |
Living the other side of the world in Australia, I recently visited mum and was saddened at her condition whilst in hospital and was so thrilled to find Westroyd House and the terrific staff there, especially Yvonne and also Sheila, Paul and Laura and several others I cannot remember by name. My mother lived at Westroyd House for 8 years and I have to say they were very special years and she was treated with respect and dignity from all the staff. I would like to nominate Yvonne the manager because she looked after mum from the beginning to the end and when mum was at the end of her life she needed nursing care, Yvonne dedicated her time to care for mum and ensured the staff were trained to offer mum the best. I have never witnessed such dedication in a person and will be forever in Yvonnes debt for her love and compassion she showed mum and the family. Good luck in your career. - Jaculine Cooke |

Yvonne Savage - Westroyd House Care Home, Shepshed (02/05/2007) |
After a long period in hospital, my mother came to Westroyd House very weak, under cared for due to lack of goverment funding for the NHS and quite ill! Yvonne stayed with my mother for 24 hrs nursing her through her worst period of sickness. Nearly 3 months later, my mother is nearly back to her normal happy self, albeit she requires care. Without doubt, this is only due to Yvonne and her staff, all of whom display total dedication, professionalism and kindness. A big thanks to you all. - Peter Stephens |
|
Paul Krzywdzinski - Westroyd Care Home, Shepshed (02/05/2007) |
I find it difficult to nominate any individual for the ROCK award as any person is only as good as the team around them and the team at Westroyd has a refreshing attitude to the residents led by Yvonne Savage and supported by Sheila Mitchell. If however a person has to be nominated then I would nominate Paul. Paul is one of the care workers assigned to my mother Joan, during my visits she is always telling me how caring he is and will always have time for a chat and a joke (which there seems to be many) besides this Paul acts with care and treats the residents with respectand dignity. - Barry Stephens |

|
Maggie Scott - Leagreen Court Care Home, Newcastle (02/04/2007) |
When your parents are in good health and your family life is vibrant, loving, caring, happy and safe, you can never envisage putting your parents into the care of someone who is not family or even more unthinkable someone who does not and has not met them. Having travelled from Nottingham to see poppa at Leagreen was a very daunting thought and I was not looking forward to seeing him. Maggie was the first person I met, her whole being was one of compassion, genuineness, total honesty, care and most important was the dignity that was shown to all in her care, allowing them to be free spirited, content, respected and unconditionally loved. She is a natural leader and all that meet her are indeed priviledged, needless to say my subsequent journeys were happier ones.
Poppa Jim passed away some two weeks ago and I can only end by saying thank you for caring, for your warmth, your truly remarkable patience and understanding and for ensuring that his last days were peaceful. - June Summers |

Natasha Lazovic - Lansdowne Care Home, Cricklewood (23/01/2007) |
Never have I seen such an extraordinary woman bring customer reassurance to a care home. The notion of a care home can be difficult for relatives. I have witnessed Miss Lazovic go out of her way to make Lansdowne Care Home one of the best providers of nursing care. Not only are the staff aware of the importance of care, I feel Miss Lazovic has stressed the importance and philosophy of care to the care staff at Lansodowne and has observed the needs of todays potential service users. It is very rare for a home manager to be so dedicated to her line of work. I only commend what I witness and I have witnessed too much to let Miss Lazovic pass by a nomination, hence this recognition of care staff for Natasha has been forwarded. - Renal Patel |

His own grandfather was a resident until he passed away in August, he was very close to his grandad has had a bit of a hard time of late because of his death but his dedication has never faulted. He calls in to see residents even when he is off work. He has always been punctual for work is only off work on his designated days. I may be biased with my comments as he is my son but I think he gives his commitment to the job 100% and I think it may give he some encouragment if he got some recognition for his work. - Nancy Galley |
|
Angela Fairbotham - Ivyhouse Care Home, Birmingham (06/12/2006) |
Although I'm singling out Angela that does not mean the rest of the staff do not need a nomination. They are all caring or they would not be working in the facility. Angela does all the activities with the residents but she has always got a smile and a bit of encouragement, making sure that they are ok. She has time to give each one individual attention and always acknowledges family members, giving them an update. In 18 months I have never seen her in a bad mood, looking miserable or being antisocial. She has bought some initiatives for the benefit of all residents but particularly with dementia patients. Thank you - it makes my role as next of kin and caring daughter that much easier knowing mum is cared for so well. - Carol & Pat Watson-Webb |

Wendy is always available to work and is always enthusiastic about cooking for the residents, ensuring all their dietry requirements are met. Wendy has worked for the last 3 Christmas's & New Year, wanting the residents to enjoy this time with a traditional home cooked meal. Wendy always works Bank Holidays and weekends and never makes a fuss of doing so. I think Four Seasons should be aware of how important Wendy is, even though she is a small cog in a big wheel. I admire her attitude and comittment to her position, Thank you. - Victoria Pallett |

I would like to nominate Moira for her warmth and sense of humour towards the residents in the home, nothing is too much trouble for her and she always has time to chat to family members. - Anonymous |
