Welcome to Woodlands Care Home
At Woodlands Care Home, in Mirfield, West Yorkshire, we provide care for people with dementia and enduring mental health diagnoses, based on their individual needs.
We're reputed for specialising in care for those with severe challenging behaviour, and for effectively managing complex needs.
Our home is set in the Calder Valley in 46 acres of woodlands. It's been fully refurbished, and has substantial, secure gardens.
At Woodlands Care Home, residents are considered part of the family. We put their health and happiness at the heart of everything we do, and our dedicated team of nurses and carers actively encourage residents to take part in all decisions - contributing to everything from the way their rooms look to the therapies they receive.
Life at Woodlands Care Home
Our two full-time social activity coordinators plan and action a complete programme of pastimes, diversions and entertainment. We have our own minibus, are developing a social club, and run a car for therapeutic activities.
Our aim is to help people stay as well as they can for as long as they can, so we understand the importance of being active and entertained. Why not arrange a visit and we'll talk you through the facilities and activities on offer at Woodlands Care Home?
I feel at home when I visit my mother and feel confident that she is being well looked after, I wouldn't want her to be anywhere else.
The manager will always spend time taking to you and will help you with any problems you have. I would recommend the home to anyone
Excellent communications on progress and condition. The staff are very friendly and my mum is content.
I can walk in to the Home and feel comfortable. Everybody is always so friendly. It just feels like going to my mums house and I don't worry about going home.
The food is very good and if there is nothing on the menu I like an alternative is always offered. There are snacks and drinks available whenever I want one.
I am always informed of any changes to my mothers care or condition. Its gives me great peace of mind to know she is well cared for
The number and variety of activities provided by the home is excellent.
I don't know how to thank you all enough for the wonderful way in which you cared for my Dad. You made him feel special and loved. You made him happy.

Four Seasons Health Care were well represented at the finals of the British Journal of Nursing Awards earlier this month with four colleagues flying the flag for the organisation.
Gary Cousins was a runner up in the Infection Control and Prevention Nurse category, Colin Sheeran was a runner up in the Mental Health Nurse of the Year category and Joanne Strain was a runner up in the British Nurse of the Year category.
However, further plaudits need to be given to Alana Irvine who was crowned the Nutritional Nurse of the Year, after being nominated by colleagues for her continued commitment to residents’ nutrition.
Alana has been part of the driving force behind Four Seasons nutrition innovations to meet the varying needs of the people in our care. We are able to monitor residents’ nutritional needs, with technology that flags up weight loss, whether a resident has difficulty swallowing or needs assistance when eating or drinking to the care team.
Nutrition is something we take very seriously here at Four Seasons and Alana’s win recognises all of the hard work done across the board in this area.

The Woodlands Care Home in Mirfield rolled out the red carpet, as it celebrated the achievements of residents and the care team with their very own special ceremony.
Fifteen awards were given across a variety of categories including ‘Best Singer’, ‘Best Writer’, ‘Long Service Award’ and the ‘WOW’ award.
Michelle Brooks, Home Manager, said: “Everyone had a fantastic time celebrating these awards. It’s a fun way that we can give one another a pat on the back which is always greatly appreciated. Some of the acceptance speeches were absolutely hilarious. It was definitely a lovely way to spend an afternoon.”
Residents at the home also had the opportunity to celebrate their very own Yorkshire heritage.
Michelle Brooks, added: “We’ve taken pictures from books of our favourite beauty spots and displayed them around the home. Everyone enjoyed reminiscing about family holidays at the coast, building sandcastles, eating ice cream, fish and chips and paddling in the freezing water. The residents laughed at our Yorkshire man’s Prayer, ‘ere all, see all, say nowt’ and all other poems in the Yorkshire dialect.”

A Care Assistant who has been at Woodlands Care Home in Mirfield for 5 weeks has been commended for making a difference to the lives of those in his care.
Lynn Hawkins, Regional Manager for South and West Yorkshire, said: “Christopher is a real inspiration to the team here at Woodlands. He has built up a special relationship with one resident who didn’t like to spend time in the communal areas. Christopher is respectful, trusting and caring towards this particular resident and as a result has made a real difference to his day to day life."
Michelle Brooks, Home Manager, said: “Christopher is kind and patient with all of the residents here at the home. He’s only been here 5 weeks and he’s already become a valued member of the team. I don’t know what we’d do without him.”
