Brendan and Jim bond over their love of motors

Brendan and Jim bond over their love of motors

We’re always looking at ways to support residents living with learning disabilities to get involved in the things that interest them.

So when Meadowbank care home discovered that Brendan enjoys motors, they decided to implement it into his care plan to support his independence and give him ownership of a role.

Brendan accompanies maintenance man Jim when he completes his safety checks on the home’s mini-bus twice a week, helping to check the, oil, water levels, tyres, extinguishers and tail lift.

Jim says: “Brendan was really keen to help me with the mini-bus and it’s a great way to get him interacting and involved in something he enjoys. The little things make a big difference and it means a lot to see him happy and watch his independence grow.”
