Jean's poem to the Intermediate Care Team

Recovered resident thanks Intermediate Care team with a heartfelt poem

Jean stayed at the centre aged 93 for just over 5 weeks in 2018 with decreased mobility due to spinal stenosis.

With support from a team of nurses, carers, physiotherapists and occupational therapists Jean progressed with therapy and made significant improvements. When she was well enough to go back home to the Bramley area of Leeds she was independently walking with a frame.

Jean has support from a neighbourhood team and has a very close and supportive family. Green Lane contacted Jean for her follow up call and were pleased to hear that she is doing very well at home and thanks all the staff at Green Lane for contributing to her recovery.

To say thanks Jean wrote a lovely poem about the time she spent at Green Lane, often observing the nurses and care staff coming and going.

I have wrote the poem today, to thank each and every one for my welcome stay.

You have all worked hard days and nights, to get me back to greater heights.

You have all given me so much loving care, to have so many faults I was not aware.

I have tried my best to do your bidding I knew a few would stand no kidding.

You are a credit to your calling, all so ready to stop one falling.

So may I say to all of you, keep up the god work that you do.

I wish they would get you many more staff, to help you all with continual craft.

But who am I among so few, who does not know the jobs you do.

But all my special thanks come your way, not just now but EVERYDAY.

Intermediate Care Centre Deputy Manager Jayne comments: “Jean was a lovely friendly resident to have here at Green Lane and made a lasting impression on all of the colleagues. She loved to knit and always had her needles clicking! She also enjoyed a cup of hot water and a natter with the team. Jean’s poem was so lovely to receive and made us cry, we’ve put it on display in reception so we can see it and smile every day!”
