Welcome to Clandeboye Care Home
You'll find Clandeboye Care Home in Bangor, County Down. Here our team of registered nurses and well trained, dedicated care assistants provides excellent 24-hour care.
To suit a range of needs, we offer different levels of care, from residential nursing for people with early-stage dementia, to end-of life-care. As a person's care requirements change, they can move between our two dedicated suites rather than making a disruptive transfer elsewhere.
People living here love our courtyards, where they can take the fresh air, help water the plants, and feed the birds. Our home has a circular design, so a resident can walk continuously without getting lost.
Indoors, each suite has two lounges with flat-screen TVs. There's also a quiet lounge, leading to a courtyard - a lovely place to spend quality time with loved ones, perhaps celebrating a birthday.
We love residents to personalise their rooms, and to choose their own colour schemes to make these spaces more homely.
Life at Clandeboye Care Home
We have two dedicated activities coordinators who ensure that all residents have something stimulating and enjoyable to look forward to and that interests them. This may be individual hobbies or interests but we also make sure there are plenty of group activities as well.
Our varied, interesting programme includes handcrafts, gardening, quizzes, concerts, baking, women's pampering and a gentleman's morning. We also celebrate calendar events like St Patrick's Day and Valentine's Day.
Our nutritionally balanced menus are carefully prepared by our chef. Menus are displayed on a daily basis but alternatives are always on offer.
Clandeboye care home is a beautiful home. My mother has been there now for quite a few years and she is totally dependant on the staff for all her needs. The staff are always so friendly, cheerful and happy to help in any way possible. I can talk with the staff at any time during the day, there is nothing they won't do. This also includes other staff in the home i.e. Domestic, kitchen and maintanence man. My mother is very well looked after and I cannot fault the staff for anything. When mom starts to show signs of cough they are on the ball immediately and she see the GP as most of the times she developed a chest infection. But the nurses are very quick at getting this sorted. When I go on holiday I can go away with piece of mind knowing mom is well cared for.
I just can't praise the manager and her staff enough.
I am very satisfied with the care and support my husband gets. He is very well looked after and always clean and tidy. The staff are willing to help and are always near by if needed. My husband is well settled and is in a safe environment which gives me peace of mind at all times. The manager is always willing to deal with any issues that may arise and always keeps me informed on his behaviour and always has his best interest coming first.

I am very pleased with the standard of care provided for my father at Clandeboye Care Home. The staff are extremely friendly, professional and happy to answer any questions raised and offer information on my fathers general well-being. Activities are well planned and special efforts are made to celebrate birthdays whilst ensuring families feel welcome to call at any time.
I am very content with the nursing care that my wife is receiving at Clandeboye. I was also impressed with the promptness with which the relocation from another care home care carried out.
My mother was patience at Clandeboye Care home for over seven years, in that time her life was made comfortable. She was always clean and tidy. The home has improved a lot since the manager took over, it is bright and cheerful, the staff are all very caring and it is one big family, also the food is good. I lost my mother in September she died in her own room with nursing staff looking after her. I could not have asked for more care for her.
I have found Clandeboye Care Home to be really excellent in the caring of my wife for the past two years. Staff are excellent very caring, home is kept very clean by the cleaners. Manageress has always kept my family informed of what is happening.
My mother has been in this care home for 3+ years. I can not express my gratitude enough for the wonderful care, love and attention she receives at the hands of all the staff without exception. She is always clean and well dressed. She is content and well fed. She can feed herself but I have observed others in the home who need to be fed and this is done with patience and care.
Our families experience of this care home has been very good. The staff are very helpful and keep regular contact with me if there has been any issues with my father e.g If doctor has been called any medication issued etc. We have no complaints about my fathers care, he is always well cared for and kept clean. We have visited at different times of day hand have never found is to be any different.

Dementia is set to be the 21st century's biggest killer. But awareness and understanding remains low and many families are facing it alone. That’s why, during the Week, we want everyone to come together and take action. By uniting, we can raise awareness, offer help & understanding and improve care. You can find more information on the Alzheimer’s Society website.
To mark Dementia Awareness Week, Four Seasons Health Care is hosting four guest blogs from our team of dementia experts.
Our final blog takes the form of a poem and comes from Nina Hutchison from Gowrie House care home in Fife.
Nina has supported colleagues in facilitating training modules within the Dementia Care Framework. She has been so inspired by the Dementia care framework, and especially the Dementia Experience, that she wrote this poem about her understanding of how a resident may feel living with Dementia.
Dementia Experience Poem
Walk in my Shoes,
Just for a day,
Feel how I feel,
It’s the easiest way,
The jigsaw is there,
The pieces are too,
They don’t seem to fit
It’s a bit of a do,
Hear what I hear,
And see what I see,
I’m not sure where I am,
But I know I’m me,
Step into my shoes,
The experience may be difficult,
And at times a bit rough
But you can say when you’ve had enough
But this is my life, my everyday world
Some days nice and calm,
And other days a swirl,
The one thing to remember when the experience is done,
Help me with my memories,
And the days that I have none.

The prestigious award highlights the most recommended care homes in each region of the United Kingdom. The awards are based on thousands of reviews and recommendations received from residents, family and friends.
Joanne Roy, Home Manager said: “I’m delighted that Clandeboye has received this award. To be named one of the ‘Top 20 Recommended Homes’ in Northern Ireland is a fantastic achievement. It’s great to see that the feedback we’ve received in the home, has been mirrored on a regional scale. Our Quality of Life Data, which allows us to monitor and act on feedback almost instantly, shows that in the last three months all of our residents are happy living here.”
Carol Cousins, Four Seasons Managing Director for Northern Ireland said: “I want to pass my congratulations onto everyone at Clandeboye Care Home on their award. This is a fantastic achievement and shows that the hard work and dedication from the team has paid dividends. The reviews on CareHome.co.uk are fantastic.”

Two members of the team at Clandeboye Care Home in Bangor have been commended for their caring nature and dedication to residents.
Annie Joy Kamlian, Deputy Home Manager and Tony Swift Domestic Assistant were presented with their Recognition of Care and Kindness (ROCK) award by Regional Manager Alana Irvine.
Both Annie and Tony were nominated by relatives of their residents. Their nominations read:
“Annie Joy livers up to her name! She cared for my 96 year old mother with dedication, compassion and care. AJ is infinitely cheerful, respectful, professional and also has a wonderful and appropriate sense of humour. I never had a doubt that AJ and her team always had my mother's best interests at heart. Under AJ's care I was confident in her safety and well-being. AJ nursed my mother until her peaceful and dignified death. AJ's warmth and kindly concern were a real consolation to myself and my family through what was a truly difficult time. Please ensure that this wonderful member of staff is recognised for her qualities.” – Mr Shiels
“Tony is unfailingly cheerful. He knows the names of all the residents and interacts with them at all times. He chats and waves as he makes his way around the home. Never seems to stop working but always with a smile. My Mother is a wanderer and he is so kind to her and makes her laugh. I believe he deserves recognition for his qualities, the home would be a poorer place without him.” – Ms McClean
Alana Irvine, Regional Manager for Strangford Lough and South East, said: “The awards for Tony and Annie are very well deserved. It’s always nice to hear positive feedback from relatives as it shows we’re putting the needs to their loved ones first. Well done Annie and Tony, keep up the fantastic work.”
A ROCK award is a nationwide honour that specifically highlights the impact a Four Season Health Care employee has made on the lives of people living in one of their care homes. Team members are nominated for an award by residents, their relatives or friends, who have witnessed or experienced team members demonstrating excellent standards of care and kindness in their role.
