Care Home ManagerView bio
Care Home Manager
Denise discovered her passion for care after watching her mum juggle work, home life and caring for her nan who was living with dementia. She has been a part of the Haddon House team for over seven years now, and has worked in the Health and Social Care Sector for 26 years.
Why did you decide to join Four Seasons Health Care?
Four Seasons is a very supportive company and I liked that everyone comes together as one team to ensure our residents receive the best possible care.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
I love being able to make a difference. It’s great being able to support my team and help them make a difference to our residents’ lives on a daily basis.
What are your favourite hobbies and pastimes?
I enjoy exploring new places, reading autobiographies and watching movies and TV programmes based on true stories.
Are there any highlights in your career you are particularly proud of?
I have experienced many highlights throughout my career. One of my biggest highlights was when working in Reablement Care, as I loved being able to support residents and felt a real sense of achievement when they were able to return home.
What are your Qualifications?
I started my career in care in a 77-bed nursing home as a Care Assistant and worked my way up to a Senior Care Assistant role. I continued to progress in my career by becoming a Home Manager in a residential care home. Following this I became a Support Manager for that group of homes supporting both residential and nursing homes, but eventually I decided to return to a Home Manager role when I moved area as this is where my real passion was.
What top tips would you give someone when looking for the right care home?
Have a good look around at how the team members interact with their residents and make sure to ask the team lots of questions. Try to look past the decor and focus on the feel of the home instead. Don't be aftraid to visit more than once if need be to obtain a better feel of the home.
