Ann Simpson
Care Home Manager
Ann has worked in the Health and Social Care sector for 44 years and has been the Home Manager at Middleton Hall for over 20 years. Ann began her career as a registered nurse and during her training she found her passion for looking after the elderly.
Why did you decide to join Four Seasons Health Care?
Middleton Hall was taken over by Four Seasons Health Care and I’ve been with the company for four years now!
What do you enjoy most about your job?
I love that I get to meet lots of people. I really enjoy training and developing my staff too. Most of all I love making my residents comfortable, happy, safe and feel included whilst living in our home.
What are your favourite hobbies and pastimes?
I’m a very family minded person, so I love spending time with my children and grandchildren. I also love reading, watching Avengers movies and going on caravan holidays.
Are there any highlights in your career you are particularly proud of?
I’m very proud of winning the regional heat of ‘Manager of the Year’.
What do you feel is your biggest achievement outside of your career?
Being philosophical and upbeat during a health scare that caused me to go temporarily blind. I was planning a guide dog and a talking computer so I could go back to work.
What are your Qualifications or Experience?
At the start of my career, I wanted to look after unwell children, so I completed my Registered Sick Children’s Nurse qualification. I worked as a nurse for sick kids for three years. I then trained at the Royal Infirmary and got my Registered General Nurse qualification. This is where I found my passion for looking after the elderly.
After having a family, I joined Middleton Hall in 1987 as a staff nurse. I then developed to being a matron and after that, I become the Home Manager and I have been in this position for over 20 years!
