The 8th May marks a very special day in history. This year it was the 71st Anniversary of Victory in Europe Day, more commonly known as VE Day.
The Laurels Care Home in Hetton-le-Hole in celebrated this momentous occasion in a very special day.
Alfie, a regular visitor at The Laurels, dressed up in his best attire complete with balloons to get residents in the celebratory mood.
Care Home Manager, Helen Ball, said: “The home was decorated with bunting and the team all dressed up, but it was Alfie that stole the show.
“Everyone had a great day. Some of our residents even shared their stories about the war and how they celebrated VE day when they were younger. Some of their stories were incredible; it’s hard to believe how much the world has changed sometimes.”
