Residents from Amelia House Care Home in York have been having lots of special experiences, with no two days ever being the same.
Over recent weeks, the residents have indulged in pet therapy which has not only soothed them, but let them get hands on with creatures great and small.
David Ramage, Home Manager, explained: “We’ve had a number of organisations showcasing their animals in our homes. We’ve had everything we can think of including; a pony, lizards, snakes, a skunk, armadillo, skinny pig, raccoon and meerkat. Thankfully, the only thing we haven’t seen is a spider! Our residents have loved getting hands on and cuddling all of the creatures. The cuddlier and cuter the better.”
When the residents aren’t cuddling meerkats and raccoons, they’ve been out and about exploring. Whether that was a trip to Lavender Park in Wolds Way or the Lysander Arms for a quick tipple, the residents thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Especially as they indulged in fish and chips after each outing.
