Amethyst House have a ‘Flying’ sighting

Recently, The Flying Scotsman departed on a journey along the main train line from South to North. Residents and relatives from Amethyst House Care Home were lucky enough to go and watch the locomotive on its way as they are only a short distance away from the train line.

A couple of residents and their family members took a short walk from the home to the train line to watch the famous Flying Scotsman pass through the crossing at Rossington. Originally built in Doncaster, the train passed slowly through the crossing so everyone could enjoy it in all its glory.

Katie Wilson, Care Home Manager, told us “It would’ve been rude not to go and see the magnificent Flying Scotsman as we are so close by. A few of our residents and their families went along with the team to see the locomotive pass by. We all spoke about our memories of the train afterwards and how it was originally built close to us here”.

Amethyst House is a care home in Doncaster, providing nursing and residential care to the Doncaster area.
