Baking success at Layden Court

Everyone at Layden Court Care Home in Maltby, have been cooking up a storm as the home ran it’s very own version of ‘The Great British Bake Off’.

Jenny Hololob, Home Manager, explains: “There were lots of fantastic creations made by everyone, with enough goodies to go around. Every single one of them passed the taste test. However, there could only be one overall winner, and that went to a relative of a resident for her yummy ‘gluten free Lemon Kick Start’ crumble. Thank you again to everyone who took part, your creations were scrumptious.”

After enjoying the culinary delights from the competition, some of the residents visited Clifton Park to appreciate the lovely flowers in bloom, whilst basking in the spring sunshine. Whilst they were out they also visited a local museum, which set them up for the next activity which involved reminiscing.

Back at the home, the Activities Coordinator gathered everyone together, and over a cup of tea – and a slice of cake – everyone talked about their memories and the golden years.

Jenny Hololob added: “We try to do our upmost here, to ensure we provide special experiences for residents so we can create new memories for them to share with their families. We must be doing something right because over the last three months, 97% or 61 of our residents have told us that Layden Court is a happy place to live. We will continue to work hard to ensure that the residents remain happy here, which includes holding activities which appeal to them.”
