Botham's Dementia accreditation receives praise from local councillor

At the end of last month, we announced that Botham Hall Care Home in Huddersfield had become one of our pioneering homes when it came to dementia care.

It’s been a couple of weeks now since the home received its accreditation for the Dementia Care Framework, which focuses on how the care team can better understand those residents they care for who suffer from the disease.

Last week, the home received high praise in the shape of a Congratulations card, from local councillor Christine Iredale. The letter read:

Congratulations to everyone at Botham Hall Care Home.

“I have just read in the paper of your award.

As a former Home Care Assistant I had people who suffered from this dreadful illness and it is really wonderful to know that a care home in my own ward is doing such a brilliant job.

“Next year when I become Mayor of Kirklees, Dementia/Alzheimer’s will be my charity so if I can help you in any way at all I will really be pleased.

“Congratulations once again.

“Christine Iredale (Golcar Ward Councillor)”

Christina Halonka, Home Manager, said: “We were all really pleased when we received this card. It’s great to see that news of the work we’re doing here at Botham is spreading. I’m really proud of everyone here at Botham for all of the work they’ve put in to ensure we received our accreditation. We will continue to provide the best care we can to all of our residents here at the home.”
