A touch of Hawaii came to Bracknell

On Saturday 6th August, Bracknell Care Home in Bracknell was transformed into a beach paradise, as its summer BBQ embraced a Hawaiian theme.

Natsayi Dunira, Home Manager, said: “The weather was fantastic. If you closed your eyes you could almost imagine yourself on a Hawaiian beach. The BBQ was very well attended, alongside the team and the residents we had relatives and other visitors to the home.

“We had entertainment provided by Full Beam Productions who had everyone up singing and dancing. Our BBQ has an Asian twist which went down very well with nothing left apart from a few crumbs at the end of the event.”

The event gave Bracknell Care Home the chance to recognise the hard work and continued dedication of the team. As Home Manager, Natsayi Dunira took the opportunity to present her team and some special residents with awards celebrating their achievements.

Tasha Corbett, Personal Activities Leader was awarded with a ROCK (Recognition of Care and Kindness) award, after being nominated by a relative for being “Very, very enthusiastic. Always has a smile and nothing is too much for her.”

Other awards included:

  • Heart of Gold award (resident of the home award) went to George Newton and Iris Tilbury.
  • Butterfly award (employee of the season award) went to Irene Rones, Sue Guida and Victor Boateng.
  • Diamond award (relatives that have supported the home award) went to Sue Forbes, Sheila Hopkins and Brian Burgess.
  • Silver Knight award went to Gina Mandache.

Natsayi Dunira, Home Manager, added: “It was great and a really proud moment for me to present these awards. All of the awards were greatly received and helped round off our day in a very special way.”

A ROCK award is a nationwide honour that specifically highlights the impact a Four Season Health Care employee has made on the lives of people living in one of their care homes. An internal prize, staff are nominated for an award by either residents, their relatives or friends, who have witnessed or experienced staff members demonstrating excellent standards of care and kindness in their role.
