Comedy helps residents to reminisce about days gone by

What do you call a man with a piece of wood on his head?

This is just some of the comedy gold that has had residents and the team alike chuckling at Cedars and Larches Care Home in Ilkeston for their International Joke Day celebrations.

Alison Richards, Personal Activities Leader, said: “We took the Joke Day theme to a whole new level planning a week of activities to ensure the residents had a good old giggle. We had a joke of the day, name the comic quiz, watched some comedy DVDs spanning the ages and a funny sing along. We’ve had a right good laugh and memorable chats with our residents about the comedy of yesteryear. International Joke Day really has brightened up our week.”

If residents ever needed a bit of inspiration, or just fancied a laugh, they could visit the Cedars and Larches themed board which had lots of jokes on to bring a smile to everyone’s face.

Another joke that was featured was….

What did the stamp say to the envelope?

…Stick with me and you’ll go far.
