Mrs. Maureen Mason, who regularly visits her loved one in Pellon Care Centre in Halifax has made the finals of the Four Season’s Care Awards in the Resident/Relative Contribution category for her commitment to helping the home go from strength to strength in its local community.
These are the 1st Four Season’s Care Awards and this year over 700 people were nominated for awards by care home residents, colleagues and visitors. All entries have been of a very high standard making the judging process a difficult one. However, a winner had to be chosen and the nomination for Ms. Mason demonstrated how she continues to make a difference and provide special resident experiences on a daily basis.
During the judging process for the Resident/Relative Contribution award, the panel was looking at a number of different factors which included recognising someone who had helped to ensure the care home they’re associated with reflects the interest and needs of the residents living there. Ultimately making the home a happy place to live.
Ms. Mason was nominated by a member of the care team. Her nomination read: “Maureen is one of our relatives that joins in and helps towards all of our fundraisers and gets involved with raising money for the home. She helps us out frequently and helps with the success of any event we hold in the home.”
As the winner for the East of England, Ms. Mason is automatically through to the national Four Season’s Care Awards finals. She will meet a panel of judges in for the last round of judging and will then join finalists from across the UK in Birmingham for a special event to celebrate their achievements and discover if they have won a national award.
Lynn Hawkins, Regional Manager for Four Seasons Health Care South and West Yorkshire, said: “Ms. Mason is very hands-on and is inclusive with all of the residents within the home. Any concerns she raises, she’s quick to find a solution to. She’s definitely a positive force to be reckoned with within Pellon Care Centre and I don’t know of anyone more deserving of this award. Well done Ms. Mason!”

I’m very thankful that we have residents like Ms. Mason who give some of their time to us, it is really appreciated. Thank you and well done!”
The Care Awards were open to employees from all Four Seasons homes across the UK and central team members to celebrate their commitment in the delivery of high-quality services to 14,000 residents cared for in more than 300 locations.
The 14 categories have been created to recognise excellence in a variety of roles across the organisation ranging from ‘Registered Nurse of the Year’ to ‘Care Home Manager of the Year’. We also wanted to recognise the hard the dedication and commitment from our residents, their relatives and volunteers.
