Elizabeth Irving celebrates her 90th year by sharing her story

The theme for Care Home Open Day this year focuses on celebration and the Queen’s 90th birthday. Here at Four Seasons Health Care we thought it would be nice to share some of our resident’s stories who are also celebrating their 90th year!

Hollie Hill presents Elizabeth Irving

Elizabeth aka Cissie was born and lived in the old Colliery Streets of East Stanley on 26th September 1926. She started her working career at Butlins aged 19 then moved into the hotel business with her best friend Violet.

She married Bobbie Irving (an engineer serving his National Service with the RAF) in 1950 after they met at Pallie at Annfield Plain. They were living at an RAF base when they welcomed their daughter into the world in 1953 – the same year as the Queen’s coronation!

Cissie enjoyed being a hostess and would hold regular parties which she would sing at. This would entertain her guests and keep her daughter entertained.

Cissie has 2 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren to keep her busy.

Now a resident at Hollie Hill, Cissie enjoys singing and taking part in the activities in the home.
