On Tuesday 13th September 2016, a tribute act to “The Forces’ Sweetheart” Dame Vera Lynn wowed residents, relatives and the care team at Flower Park Care Home in Doncaster.
Entertaining everyone with Vera’s greatest hits including ‘We’ll Meet Again’ and ‘The White Cliffs of Dover’, it was an apt way for everyone to commemorate the Battle of The Somme. By the end of the battle, the British Army had suffered 420,000 casualties including nearly 60,000 on the first day alone.
Amanda Searle, Home Manager, said: “Everyone had a wonderful time and the entertainer was fantastic. It was lovely to see everyone singing along. Cheryl our Catering Manager was enjoying herself so much she even had a little dance with Vera. This just goes to show that songs by certain artists are indeed timeless.
“I’d like to thank the entertainer for coming to our home. You were fantastic. We’d love to welcome you back another time.”
