Nanette Swan, Home Manager at Dene Grange Care Home in Hexham has been crowned ‘Dementia Care Champion’ at the first Four Season’s Care Awards.
The award Nanette has won commends her passion for providing outstanding dementia care and how she has gone the extra mile to make a difference and provide special experiences for our residents who live with dementia.
Following over 1,200 nominations, Nanette was shortlisted with five other colleagues from over 300 Four Season’s Care Homes across the UK.
Dr Claire Royston, Group Medical Director for Four Seasons Health Care, presented Nanette with this award said: “Here at Four Seasons I want to ensure that we provide special experiences for residents in our care. Our Dementia Care Framework is our commitment to getting dementia care right, to give the residents a better quality of life. Everyone who was nominated for all of the care awards have gone the extra mile, however in this category Nanette was a worthy winner. Well done Nanette.”
Jacky Reed, Regional Manager for Newcastle and North Tyneside said: “Nanette is a fantastic individual and a true embodiment of the Dementia Care Champion. She knows everything there is to know about dementia, which results in her team being extremely well led. Congratulations Nanette! You are truly deserving of this special accolade.”
On receiving the award, Nanette said: “It was really nice to be recognised for this award. I never expected to actually win though. It is truly a humbling moment for me. Going the extra mile is something I and my team do every day, to ensure that our residents have some truly special experiences with us, no matter their ailment.”
