Geoff Kelly, Chef Manager at Lisburn Care Home in Lisburn has been crowned ‘Support Team Member of the Year’ at the first Four Season’s Care Awards.
The award Geoff has won commends him for delivering a high level of support to colleagues, residents and their families through everyday tasks. Geoff also demonstrated how he is committed to making a difference to everyone he encounters within the home.
Following over 1,200 nominations, Geoff was shortlisted with five other colleagues from over 300 Four Season’s Care Homes across the UK.
Neil Bodfish, Finance Director for Four Seasons Health Care, presented Geoff with this award said: “All of the candidates we interviewed for this award were of such a high calibre; it was a difficult decision to make. However, we chose Geoff because his ethos was fantastic. He really puts his heart and soul into everything he does at Lisburn Care Home. Well done Geoff.”
Karen Moriarty, Home Manager for Lisburn Care Home said: “Geoff has been the Chef Manager in Lisburn Care home for the past 23 years. Although employed in that role for that length of time he never loses his motivation and enthusiasm for providing wholesome nutritious well-presented food to the residents. He receives many comments from residents, relatives and visiting managers from other homes on the quality of his food. He’s friendly and very motivational to his team having only had two occasions where he’s been off sick in 23 years. Everyone respects and admires him and we all agree he is a worthy winner of this award.”
On receiving the award, Geoff said: “I’m really happy to have received this award. For me I don’t believe I’ve done anything special, I just care about my residents. In my opinion I don’t go to work, I go to my second home. I want to thank the person who nominated me, it really means a lot.”
