Hallgarth Care Home in Durham has seen an influx of knitted Jelly Babies dotted around the home, as they’ve moved in prior to the Christmas Fair.
Shirley Mason, a resident at the home has knitted the family of 31 Jelly Babies as gifts for people to buy for their loved ones.
Shirley said: “I knitted the Jelly Babies over a 6 month period, and didn’t realise I’d knitted so many! At least there’s one of every colour. Seeing them all finished and smiling at me was lovely, they’d make nice gifts for people.”
Angela Muir, Home Manager, said: “For the last 6 months, Jelly Babies have been popping up around the home, often in unexpected places. It’s fantastic that Shirley’s passion has been harnessed in this way. I just worry we won’t have enough Jelly Babies for people to buy. It’ll be interesting to see what Shirley decides to knit for next year’s fair.”
