Residents from Hallgarth Care Home in Durham added to ‘Team GB’s’ score of Gold medals in the Rio Olympics by winning 12 of their own.
Over the past month, the residents have been taking part in their very own Olympic events, which culminated in an awards ceremony being held at the home on Wednesday 17th August 2016.
The Olympic Games included: Rhythmic Exercise Gymnastics, All Ball Bowling, French Bouls, Card Corsage, 100 Meters Flat and 100 Meters Hurdles Horse Race, Paintbrush Pentahlon.
Angela Muir, Home Manager, said: “Residents, relatives and the team embraced the awards ceremony with gusto. During the judging, as well as the performance in the games, skills were also taken into account such as: going the extra mile, comradeship and effort. After the awards and presentation everyone celebrated with tea and cake, before taking part in an exercise class to work it all off. Everyone was very proud of their achievements and loved wearing their gold medals. We’re all looking forward to the Winter Olympics!”
