Some residents from Hallgarth Care Home in Durham took the chance during a break from rain showers to go on a mystery tour.
Angela Muir, Home Manager, explained: “The weather has been a little hit and miss recently, so when it eventually did stop the residents went on a mystery tour, ending up at Finchale Priory. The sat in full view of the Abby in the meander of the River Wear, to have tea and biscuits, whilst listening to the history of the 13th Century Benedictine Priory.
“Mrs Dawson won the comment of the day by saying: ‘It was nice to find something older than me’ as at the grand age of nearly 99 years young, she had always wanted to come and see the Abby, but didn’t realise it would take her quite this long to get here.
“The residents really enjoy our mystery tours, and as you can tell from Mrs Dawson’s comment, we try and provide special experiences for our residents. This particular visit has been on her bucket list for a very long time and I’m glad we can help her tick it off.”
