Residents at Hallgarth Care Home in Durham had the pleasure of welcoming musical act ‘The Silver Liners’ into their home.
The band consists of 8 ukulele players who came along for an afternoon of music, song and ‘remember when’.
Angela Muir, Home Manager, said: “Everyone had a fantastic time. The band started with a warm up including ‘Hello Mary Lou’ and ‘By the Light of the Silvery Moon’. They then played some foot tapping Geordie songs including ‘Dance to your Daddy’ and ‘Blaydon Races’, then off we went on a ‘Bicycle made for Two’ with ‘You are my Sunshine’ and ‘I do like to be beside the seaside’ too.
“Then things got competitive as we held a battle of the groups, with ‘It’s a long way to Tiparairee’ versus ‘Pack up you troubles’. We’re not too sure who won but everyone loved it. No ukulele event would be complete without a George Formby medley.
“It was one of those experiences that you’ll cherish forever!”
