Residents at Hartwell Care Home in Sheffield welcomed some very special four legged guests last week.
The care team surprised the residents by organising a visit to the home by two Shetland ponies.
Maria Whittaker, Home Manager, said: “Pet therapy is very beneficial to people in care homes, and our residents especially enjoy it. We wanted to do something different and thought the ponies would provide an alternate to the usual pet therapy.
“The ponies were a huge hit, with the residents ensuring that they gave the same amount of attention to both of them. Everyone was a little disappointed when it was time for them to leave, some even so that they were making one of the rooms pony proof so they could stay.”
