Heywood Court goes through the looking glass for Mad Hatters Tea Party

Heywood Court Care Home in Heywood didn’t want anyone to be late for their very important date, on Friday 17th Jun, when the home welcomed the local community in as part of Care Home Open Day.

Victor Phiri, Care Home Manager, said: “Our theme for Care Home Open Day was Alice in Wonderland, complete with flamingo croquet, a Mad Hatter’s Tea Party and our very own Alice and the Queen of Hearts.

“Everyone had a lovely day, and it was nice to welcome local people from the community in. It’s nice for our residents to speak to different people, sharing their stories with them. It’s safe to say there weren’t many cakes left from the tea party.

“I want to thank everyone for coming, and even the entertainer managed to escape after his set without losing his head.”

Care Home Open Day is a UK wide initiative inviting care homes to open their doors to their local communities. Events like the one at Heywood Court Care Home will help to create lasting links between the residents and their local community.

Care Home Open Day is all about showing people what care homes are really about and how they can be at the centre of the local community, developing relationships across the generations.
