Hillside residents get 'hands on' with visitors

Hillside Care Home in Berwick-upon-Tweed welcomed ten visitors this week, as the home celebrated National Pet month.

The visit was organised by the Personal Activities Lead alongside Birds of Prey from Haggerston.

Vanessa Pepper, Home Manager said: “Andy Howey from Birds of Prey brought a variety of friends with him for our residents to meet. These new friends came in the shape of; a barn owl – who flew from resident to resident - fluffy chicks a bearded dragon, a blue tongued lizard, a rose haired tarantula, a black Labrador and a cocker spaniel puppy. All of the residents loved seeing and touching the different animals, especially the furry ones. Ellen, one of our residents, was feeling extremely brave and tried the tarantula on as a hat. Safe to say not many people followed in Ellen’s brave footsteps.

“I want to thank Andy for coming and helping provide our residents with this special experience. It’s not something they’ll forget in a hurry.”
