Making the decision to put a loved one into a care home can be a heart wrenching time. We often wonder if we’ve made the right choice, and hope that we’ve placed our loved one into capable hands.
When Mrs Madeline Scott settled her mother into the Dementia Unit at Holywood Care Home in Belfast, these were just a few of the questions that she asked herself. However, once Mrs Scott saw first-hand, the way her mother’s needs were placed at the centre of her care plan, she felt relaxed.
Mrs Scott thought so highly of the unit and the team that she nominated them for a Recognition of Care and Kindness (ROCK) award, and on Thursday 30th June she presented the team with their award.
Mrs Scott said: “All the team at Holywood are caring and compassionate. It is hard to choose just one person as they are all part of a fantastic team who my mum and my family would be lost without.”
Mauro Magbitang, Home Manager, said: “I want to thank Mrs Scott for nominating the team here at Holywood for this award. We are extremely humbled by this. The team here enjoy caring for all of our residents and work really hard to ensure that our residents’ needs and well-being are at the forefront of everything they do. I’m very proud of my team here and want to congratulate them on this award.”
A ROCK award is a nationwide honour that specifically highlights the impact a Four Season Health Care employee has made on the lives of people living in one of their care homes. An internal prize, staff are nominated for an award by either residents, their relatives or friends, who have witnessed or experienced staff members demonstrating excellent standards of care and kindness in their role.
