The residents Kingswood Lodge Care Home in Wotton-under-Edge have had a fun few weeks with various activities and visitors arranged by the team. From birthday celebrations to taking a trip down memory lane, it has all happened at Kingswood Lodge.
One of the residents at the home recently celebrated her birthday so the team arranged a special meal for her and some friends. She and 3 other residents chatted the afternoon away with a bottle of wine to mark the occasion.
Everyone had a feast on Shrove Tuesday as the team made the residents stacks of pancakes with fillings of their choice. The team amused everyone with their skills of flipping pancakes; although some did end up on the floor, everyone enjoyed themselves thoroughly.
A new experience for all, the team invited the company ‘The Memory Van’ to come to the home and showcase their memorabilia. The Memory Van travels around the UK with vintage items to help stimulate residents into discussions about their pasts. The team invited family members to come and join in the fun to see whether they could guess what some of the items were.
Angela Wright, Deputy Home Manager, told us “We’ve certainly had fun here at Kingswood Lodge. All the residents enjoyed laughing at our pancake flipping. The Memory Van was also great – the residents had a lot of fun looking through the vintage things. They all told us about the things they remembered and showed family members what things were used for. It was very interesting to hear some of the stories they all had”.
