Love, Peace and Unity were definitely on the menu at Ringshill Care Home as he swinging 60s swept over the team, residents and visitors to the Huntingdon based home for Care Home Open Day.
Katie Wilkinson, Home Manager, said: “Some of our residents have really fond memories of the 60s, so it made perfect sense to base our Care Home Open Day celebration on this era.
“Everything was taken back to the 60s. the team dressed up in the fashion of the time, some of which really hasn’t aged well. We had a 60s style BBQ and local entertainer Roger Sea kept everyone entertained with hits from the time. Everyone loved the day, and I think the visitors we had in were brilliant for the residents, as it gives them a new audience to share their stories.”
Care Home Open Day is a UK wide initiative inviting care homes to open their doors to their local communities. Events like the one at Ringshill Care Home will help to create lasting links between the residents and their local community.
Care Home Open Day is all about showing people what care homes are really about and how they can be at the centre of the local community, developing relationships across the generations.
