When the residents of Woodside looked out of their windows on Sunday 24th July, the last thing they were expecting to see was a gaggle of pop stars walking down the street.
The sponsored walk, was being done in aid of the resident’s fund at Laurels Lodge Care Home based in Woodside and was being done by members of the care team, volunteers and resident’s relatives.
The group of 9, all dressed as music royalty began their walk at Fittie Harbour at 1.30pm finishing up at the Care Home. Susan Simpson (relative), Lynn Taylor (relative), Fred Park (volunteer), Jean Park (volunteer), Fe Gesma (volunteer), Sheila Gesma (Home Manager), Linda Mason (Deputy Manager), Rhodora Antiojo (Nurse), Marlene Smith (Personal Activities Leader) and Debra all donned their walking shoes for the cause.
Sheila Gesma, Home Manager, said: “We have been doing this fundraising event for the last 11 years now and it still receives great support from families, friends and the team here at Laurels Lodge. I want to thank our Personal Activities Leader Marlene who prepared a fantastic buffet for the participants after the walk. The fantastic support we continually receive from the families and friends is very heart warming.”
The group managed to raise over £500. The money will help the care team to provide special resident experiences to those who live in Laurels Lodge Care Home.
