Local Mayor opens Ross Wyld Sensory Garden

Sensory gardens can have a fantastic impact on residents in Care Home. With lots of things to engage some if not all of the five senses.

On Friday 17th June 2016, Ross Wyld Care Home in London opened its doors to the local community as part of Care Home Open Day.

Gabriele Jerome, Home Manager, said: “We wanted to use Care Home Open Day as our platform to officially open our new sensory garden. The local Mayor came and did the honours of cutting the ribbon.

“Everyone who came and visited Ross Wyld was really impressed by the garden. I’d encourage anyone who would like to come and have a look to do so. You can take time like the Mayor and speak to the residents to find out more information about the home.”

Care Home Open Day is a UK wide initiative inviting care homes to open their doors to their local communities. Events like the one at Marlborough Court Care Home will help to create lasting links between the residents and their local community.

Care Home Open Day is all about showing people what care homes are really about and how they can be at the centre of the local community, developing relationships across the generations.
