On a recent clean-up of the garden at Amethyst House Care Home in Doncaster , the team made a rather unexpected discovery.
Katie Wilson, Care Home Manager, explains: “We were out cleaning the garden, with help from our friends at Flower Park Care Home, as we have lots of mature trees so lots of leaves, when two of our ladies made a little prickly discovery.
“Whilst raking the leaves they discovered a hedgehog nest, homing mum and her three babies. The ladies quickly covered the nest back up and left mum to do her thing. The hedgehogs will be able to grow up and join the rest of the wildlife community here at Amethyst House.
“We went and told the residents what we’d found. Along with calling Mum Mrs Tiggy-Winkle, the children were promptly names Spikey, Prickles and Fred. We look forward to seeing them as they grow up.”
