Northlea Court Care Home in Cramlington held a right royal tea party to celebrate Care Home Open Day on Friday 17th June 2016.
Sandra Smith, Home Manager, explains: “We had a lovely day here at Northlea. We had a very special visit from our very own Queen, an accordionist providing some very fitting songs and some children from a local children’s club, coming in to do arts and crafts with the residents.
“We also had some homemade cakes for sale, a tombola, a raffle and name the teddy competition. All donations went to the resident’s fund, which will enable us to provide special resident experiences for them later in the year.”
Care Home Open Day is a UK wide initiative inviting care homes to open their doors to their local communities. Events like the one at Northlea Court Care Home will help to create lasting links between the residents and their local community.
Care Home Open Day is all about showing people what care homes are really about and how they can be at the centre of the local community, developing relationships across the generations.
