People have a lot of misconceptions regarding care homes. One of the biggest is the fact that they’ll lose their independence.
This is certainly not the case, and Sheila from the Old Vicarage Care Home in Worksop is a shining example.
Pauline Clews, Home Manager, said: “Sheila used to be very active in her community. As with many of us, age started to slow her down but that didn’t mean she’d have to stop doing everything she was doing.
“Unfortunately, something happened which meant Sheila was unable to be as mobile as she used to be. Here at the Old Vicarage, we helped her to get a new electric wheelchair which has given her back her independence enabling her to come and go as she pleases, which has made a big difference to her life. There’s no stopping her now.”
