Thank You Pellon!

A local family has raised £1000 for a care home, after commending them for the care and kindness they’ve shown their loved one.

The team at Pellon Care Centre in Halifax were shocked when they received the money alongside a thank you letter from the family.

The letter was a heartfelt thank you, encouraging the home to keep doing what it was doing to keep residents happy.

The letter read:

Albert has been in your care for nearly 2 years now. It was the hardest family decision we have ever had to make. The care you give Albert with his cuddles and kisses from all care staff is wonderful, there is never a time when any family member visits that we do not feel welcome.

“My husband and I have been married for 25 years and we had a party for family and friends. We asked for donations as presents. The money raised will be coming to your home as a gift, we have both been overwhelmed with our friends and families generosity and the final total has come to £1000. With this money we would like it to be spent on entertainment, music/singers please as we have seen how music helps and makes residents happy.

“Thank you.”

Laura Clegg, Home Manager at Pellon Care Centre, said: “Receiving letters of praise like this makes me very proud as a home manager. The care sector can often get a bad reputation for one reason or another, so it’s really nice and heart-warming when we receive letters of praise. I’d like to thank the family for their kind donation. We’ll definitely be able to provide special experiences for our residents.”

Lynn Hawkins, Regional Manager for Four Seasons homes in South and West Yorkshire, said: “This is a lovely gesture and a fantastic endorsement of the home. I’m sure the residents will benefit greatly from the kind donation, and I want to echo Laura’s thanks to the family for all they have done.”
