Ladymead Care Home in Swindon welcomed some guests of a different kind as part of their Care Home Open Day celebrations.
Zoolab brought in a variety of exotic animals for the residents and guest to the home to pet and get to know better – as some of the ‘pets’ are often very misunderstood.
KC Byju Vasudevan, Home Manager, said: “Everyone loved getting their hands on the Zoolab animals. It appeared that the rat had a better reception than that of the snake, the giant snail or the cockroach.
“After Zoolab left, and everyone washed their hands, they were then treated to some lovely afternoon tea, which was a very sophisticated affair.”
Care Home Open Day is a UK wide initiative inviting care homes to open their doors to their local communities. Events like the one at Ladymead Care Home will help to create lasting links between the residents and their local community.
Care Home Open Day is all about showing people what care homes are really about and how they can be at the centre of the local community, developing relationships across the generations.
