No matter how old we are, we all like to go on trips out. Seeing the local scenery and tasting the culinary delights are all part and parcel of the trip out.
That’s exactly what has been happening at Red Rose Care Home in Garden City, as the residents have enjoyed a number of trips out over the past couple of weeks.
One of their warmer trips out, saw them travelling to Barry Island on one of the final sunny days of summer. Taking a look around at the local sights, and as a reward for walking the promenade, the residents settled down for a seaside lunch of fish and chips before tucking into an ice cream next to the sea.
Jack Wright, a resident at Red Rose, said: “It was the best day ever! I can’t wait to go back to Barry Island again. The fish and chips were amazing!”
Another trip saw the residents stay a little closer to home, as they visited Wetherspoons in Ebbw Vale for Curry Club. The residents had a laugh and a joke, with some opting for hotter curries than others, before quenching their thirst with a nice cold drink.
John Weeks, resident, said: “It was lovely to get out and about and socialise with friends outside the home. Everyone had a great time, which was topped off with a sing a long on the bus. I’ve heard that the care team are making this a regular outing which gets the thumbs up from me.”
