To mark the Queen’s 90th birthday, Roy Staniforth, a resident at The Lodge Care Home in Killamarsh wanted to share his story of when he met the Queen.
Roy explained: “I met the Queen in 1997. She awarded me with an MBE for my dedication and commitment to amateur dramatics, and my work within the community. I was extremely humbled to receive this award, and was honoured to meet Her Majesty.”
Janet McVeigh, Home Manager, said: “Roy is very proud of his MBE. He enjoys retelling his story of meeting the Queen to everyone at the home. Roy is a fantastic resident and its easy to see why he was honoured in the way that he was.”
